NEW ARTIST - HELEN LANG
We are very pleased to welcome talented illustrator Helen Lang to our line-up of artists. We have 2 beautiful limited edition prints by her available to purchase in our online shop with more lined up for the future.
Originally from Devon, Helen Lang now lives and works in SW London. She first came to the City after graduating in Illustration in 1999, and has worked as an Illustration agent within a London agency, within the new media industry and more recently within the print and poster industry. However, things have come full circle with her artwork and she can now be found in a warm studio, listening to the radio and generally being very happy with life.
We recently caught up with one of our resident Newcastle artists, Amy Dover to dig a little deeper into her creative soul. The full interview will be ready to read HERE very soon and keep your eyes peeled on the shop for new work by her.
So September saw our last official event of 2010 take place down at the buzzin Lockside Lounge once again. This time we took down resident artists SUNE, Mr. Guy and Mr. Arteest who put on a live art show to captivate the locals and tourists alike in Camden.
Two fresh new originals from Mr. Arteest taken from Kitch-en's second 'Sounds Good' event at Lockside Lounge in London last month. 'Neon is Cool' and 'This Board ain't Big Enough' are available to buy in the shop now alongside two more new additions taken from the Arteest archives - 'Naked Lady' and 'Argh! The Finger People'.
This is Parkour like you've never seen it captured before. This set of 4 unbelievably detailed C-Type photographic prints are now available to purchase at the super dooper price of just £170 each unframed, or £220 framed.
We have several street/urban/art/designery type magazines & books available for sale, some quite rare now.
These have all been collected by us over the years and are all in 'as new' condition unless otherwise stated. Unfortunately I now don't have the space to store them and times are moving on etc - they need a good new home.
Full list below, open to negotiation on prices/combo sales etc, email mark@kitch-engallery.co.uk for more info on anything. If I don't get much interest they will, regrettably, be hitting eBay next week so please get in touch!!

Wow, what a video. I'm a sucker for timelapses but seriously when I saw this film I was just mesmorized. It's beautiful. If you've never been to Paris - watch this. Even if you have been to Paris - watch this. It's about 18mins long but it is worth every minute of your time. And reading the story of the making is pretty cool too on the website.
The legend that is Phlegm recently paid us a visit here in the North East to do what he does best - paint, on a laaaaarge scale. As part of the CoMusica Summerjam Phlegm travelled from his home town of Sheffield to let us into a tiny piece of his magical world which will go on to form part of his new comic. As far as we knowthe artwork will remain up for the forseeable future for all to go and view at The Archway behind The Sage, Gateshead (click to see a map) so if you're in Newcastle go check it out. PHLEGM TIMELAPSE VIDEO:
The best word I can think of to describe this video is awesome and that comes knowhere close so just watch it. It's Friggin awesome!

Find below a 'Cracking' (excuse the pun) review of the Kitch-en Gallery Relaunch exhibition as published in the May issue of The Crack Magazine. Click here for the article on their website.
On Thursday 4th March 2010 at 6pm inside a disused shop unit in Newcastle (and in the virtual world of www dots all around the world) Kitch-en Gallery officially relaunched with a brand new line-up artists and a slick new website.
The doors opened and crowds of people flocked in to witness the specially curated exhibition of Limited Edition Prints, Originals and Vinyl Toys by the likes of Ben the Illustrator, Phlegm, Craww, Alexander James, Joel Millerchip, Matt JOnes aka Lunartik, Mr Arteest, Jessie Douglas, Tom Satchell, Myne, JamFactory, Creative Ginger, European Animal, Cloud Commission, Mobstr, Lunabee, Mr Guy, Malarky P, Amy Dover and more…
The deconstruction of our relaunch exhibition at 18-20 Ridley Place has begun.
Nearly all the work is now down, awaiting collection or to be stored for online sales.
It's always sad taking down an exhibition, especially one of such high calibre, I wish it could remain up permanently for all to see but as the saying goes, you close one door and open another... so now its time to say goodbye Newcastle (for now) and to look forward to London early winter for our next big show!
Although the exhibition itself is going and the doors will be locked, the window display will remain for the foreseeable future, so be sure to keep checking back here for updates on that as we'll be putting together a programme of exciting creative happenings to take place in the window over the coming months.
As our relaunch exhibition draws to a close in Newcastle, we're celebrating it's huge success by giving you lucky supporters of ours a special 10% discount on all items in our shop this weekend.
Simply enter this code: 8L0G13310 at the checkout when you order.
This offer will end midnight Sunday 14th March 2010
The relaunch exhibition will be open to the public for the very last time today, Saturday 13th March, from 11am - 5pm. The address of the pop-up gallery space is 18-20 Ridley Place, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 8JN.
You can view and buy all the artworks from our relaunch exhibition on the shop so do go and take a goosy gander cos there's some absolutely fantastic work on there, a lot of it exclusive to us so you can't buy it anywhere else.
Mobstr has been very busy over the past few weeks hitting up the streets with a load of new stencils.
You can buy some of his life size past works that are exclusive to Kitch-en Gallery from our online shop.
The preview night on Thursday 4th March was an amazing success, with over 300 people of all shapes, sizes and ages through the doors a good night was had by all.
Thanks to everyone that made it down on the night, we hope you all enjoyed it.
A full review along with all the photos and videos of the night will be posted up here very soon. We just need a couple of days to refresh ourselves after such a busy week.
In the meantime be sure to check out our facebook profile to see people's feedback and comments from the night.
Sune is working LIVE in our window display as I type.
If you're kicking around Newcastle and you want to see how the graff legend works pop down and gawp through the window. Bring a crowd and get a street party going as well if you want.
His work will remain on display in the window throughout our relaunch event. For those of you with the readies we have two exclusive pieces of work on canvas featuring in the exhibition too.
Check out our very special, limited edition A2 litho prints that accompany our relaunch exhibition. They'll be on sale for just £3 on the night and are all numbered and limited to 100.
For every exhibition we hold we will be producing a limited edition litho print/poster that will act as an affordable, collectable memory of the night. A bit like when you get a poster from a music gig etc. They will be strictly limited to 100 copies so don't miss out on kickstarting your collection, make sure you get down early to the Relaunch Event on Thursday 4th March, 6pm - 8.30pm, with only 100 available, at £3 they're an absolute bargain and when they're gone they're gone.
We've put together a rather spiffing little (well it's quite long actually) video slideshow of our new line-up of artists featuring past and present work including stuff that will be featured in the exhibition and online.
It should help whet your appetites a little bit. The slideshow will be viewable in our window display on alternative evenings to Barry Self's projection.
With help from Sandy at Ghetto Method, we've put together a fantastic collection of photos by Barry Self.
Barry is a North East photographer who relentlessly documented the hip hop & breakdancing scene here in Newcastle and beyond throughout his life. He sadly passed away at the New Year and now Kitch-en Gallery has the privilege of presenting his very fine collection of photos, many of them never seen before. RIP Barry, known by many, forgotten by none!
This video slideshow will be projected into our window display on alternate nights from 5 - 9pm over the next week or so so be sure to go and take a look. We'll also be featuring a number of Barry's photos in our relaunch exhibition so don't miss that either.
Mr Ric O'Shea dropped by the gallery this morning to drop off some exclusive work just for us. You'll have to wait til the opening to see them but here's some examples of his other work which we like very much indeedy:
